Their catchy and rockin' (and we mean ROCKIN') sophomore album has been several years in the making.  "What would impel four seemingly well-adjusted, ostensibly sane adults to see through to completion an album that, while phenomenal, may have little or no bearing on their careers?  Vanity?  Insanity?  A friendly wager?  All plausible explanations, but the most likely has to do with justice.  Intentionally or not, this is a statement, a straight-talkin’ correction writ in rawk and aimed at the stylish leaders of the coup, starting with the first track, 'Revelation Of Revolution.'  A simple combination of chords, part jangly, part thunderous, it sounds like something the Foo Fighters would have cooked up or maybe Peter Frampton fronting Drowning Pool.  The drums skitter into focus, as if they’ve been running late. The bass follows suit, and all three instruments gang up on the staccato rhythm -they punch it, pound it, bash it, drop atomic elbows on it. They really hammer the thing, and when they finally break that bunch of wild notes and kick it into full gallop - over a Soundgarden and into Nirvana.  Loose translation: 'Welcome to Rock 101, pretty boys.'  Their music is prog-rock-ish though not necessarily knotty, more along the lines of The Replacements and the Foos.  Their technical goodies reside beneath the surface, beneath the Beatle-esque melodies and two-part harmonies, the Frampton-DP riffage, and the stomping beats.  Diaz’ honest, unvarnished, masculine voice arguably defines them.  Running a close second is Gomez’ guitar tone, a warm, buzzing sound to which he administers exquisite touch and feel.  Relentlessly brutal but in the most pleasing, charming manner, I liken listening to this to what I’ve always imagined being beaten up by Muhammad Ali would feel like.  Though your ears are ringing and your solar plexus is sore, you want the fight to keep going, just so you can keep watching him.  'Just take a seat, pretty boy,' the champ says, reassuringly and somewhat sympathetically. Brad Senne - "The Shapes That Shift Us"
When we first met Brad it was via his Beight project which we liked a whole bunch.  He's back with a solo effort that, while a bit more quiet, with its gorgeous, bare minimum accompaniment, perfectly fits our "Sunday Morning Pop" playlist with its Elliott Smith-like whispy-ness throughout!  "Sometimes, it seems like a piece (or style) of music can define the mood of a situation: the same set of curves, at the same speed, in the same car, can feel a lot different depending on whether you're playing.  Not to mention where the volume's set.  Sometimes, a well-timed piece of music can even rudder a situation - perhaps a fading party resurrected by a well-queued raucous piano rock song?  This is precisely not this kind of music - it's the converse.  It's a perfect fit for certain times when the mood is already set, and you're just looking for the right piece of music to go along with that mood.  It's acoustic, but sometimes it's driving.  It's folk, but sometimes it's symphonic.  It's happiness, but sometimes it's longing.  'Drift Gently' makes me think of curling up in a big comfortable chair, with a piping hot cup of tea and a perfect blanket. In the undertones of Senne's guitar, I can hear the corners of my lips curl up into a barely-perceptible smile as I raise my mug and the smell of jasmine steam washes over my face. Nick Piunti - "Nick Piunti"
Let's get one thing straight from the start.  In case you haven't figured it out by now, we've become HUGE Nick Piunti fans here at KK!  How the heck did we miss this guy fo so long?  Somewhere back in the 70's, 12 years old and playing in his first rock band, Nick quickly realized the combination of electric guitars, crashing drums and screaming girls was about all anyone needed in this world.  Now an adult with two screaming girls of his own, his passion for creating three minute power pop classics, like the ones he's currently churning out for The Respectables, certainly shined through on his self titled release.  Recorded with veteran producer-engineer Pete Bankert and featuring the white hot guitar work of Joey Gaydos, his 2002 solo debut marries the pop sensibilities of his songs with a straight ahead rock and roll approach.  The strength of the songs on this is what distinguishes this from so many independent releases. While covering familiar ground, Nick's unique voice brings a new perspective to the world of guitar pop rock.  Just like the brilliant gems he's released with The Respectables, this one's chock full of Replacements-styled, crunchy guitar-filled ones!  GREAT!!!!
